A secretive and easily overlooked river-living species that occurs sparsely along the Palala River and on the Mogol and Sterkstroom rivers from near Vaalwater northwards to at least the Mogol Dam (recorded in 2% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs as single birds or in pairs; breeds in summer.
